The roller-type overrunning clutch is divided into two types: outer star wheel and inner star wheel, based on the position of its inner yoke (star wheel). The so-called yoke refers to the conjugate surface between the cylinder and the cylindrical hole, while the star wheel is a component that has grooves to accommodate the rollers.
The wedge block overrunning clutch uses a specially shaped wedge block instead of rolling pins as the wedging component. It is a type of clutch that consists of a wedge block and inner and outer raceways forming a friction pair.
