What is the working principle of the car starter motor

Author:

1. Its working principle is the energy conversion process based on Ampere's law that we are exposed to in junior high school physics, that is, the force of the energized conductor in the magnetic field. The motor includes necessary components such as armature, commutator, magnetic pole, brush, bearing and housing;

2. Before the engine runs under its own power, it must be rotated by external force. The process of the engine transitioning from a static state to a self-running state with the help of external force is called engine starting;

3. The commonly used starting methods of the engine include manual starting, auxiliary gasoline engine starting and electric starting. The manual start uses rope pull or hand crank, which is simple but inconvenient, and labor-intensive, and is only suitable for some low-power engines;

4. It is only reserved as a backup method in some cars; auxiliary gasoline engine starting is mainly used on high-power diesel engines; the electric starting method is easy to operate, quick to start, has the ability to repeat starting, and can be controlled remotely, so it is widely used by modern cars. use.

The starter is also called a motor. It converts the electrical energy of the battery into mechanical energy and drives the flywheel of the engine to rotate to start the engine. Starters are divided into DC starters, gasoline starters, compressed air starters, etc. according to their working principles. An engine is a machine that can convert other forms of energy into mechanical energy, including internal combustion engines (reciprocating piston engines), external combustion engines (Stirling engines, steam engines, etc.), jet engines, electric motors, etc.

The starter can convert the electrical energy of the battery into mechanical energy and drive the flywheel of the engine to start the engine. The automobile starter is mainly composed of three parts: a DC motor, a transmission meshing mechanism (shift fork, one-way clutch and drive gear), and an electromagnetic switch. When working, the electromagnetic switch pulls the shift fork to mesh the drive gear with the engine flywheel gear ring, while closing the switch contacts, and the DC motor is energized to rotate and start starting.
